Grandma Lu turns 90

Thursday my Grandma Lu will turn 90 years old.  Hard to believe, she certainly doesn't look or act like she is 90.  90 must be the new 70.   We came from near and far to celebrate with her on Saturday.  That poor Country Inn and Suites wasn't sure what to think with the onslaught of relatives. Of course her 4 children and their spouses were there, even Uncle Mick who was at Mayo on Friday having a stint put in his heart.  What a trooper he was to make it there on Saturday night.   There were 8 of her 10 grandchildren present and 16 of her 19 great grandchildren there.  A pretty impressive number I think.  She loved every minute of it.

Saturday night, at the Benson Golf Club
Aunt Sandy, Grandma, Mom, Uncle Mick and Aunt Donna

 add in the spouses

...add in some sweet great grandchildren

Don't forget the grandchidlren, note the kids running in the background

 A special birthday cake

 A beautiful birthday girl...

 Giddy with excitement over cake

Sunday morning we all went to church with Grandma and filled up 4 pews at Our Redeemers.  Grandma loved having us all there, you could see it in her smile.  After church we headed back to the Golf Club for brunch together...

We lined up the Great Grands by age....missing Ariana, Vedarose and Kale

..and before we headed out to drive back to Iowa at Grandma's house.

What a blessed weekend.  Filled with lots of cousin fun and laughs.  We all get along so well, and the kids get along beautifully.  Everyone sits by everyone,  the cars get filled up we have to take head counts since it's a scramble of who rides with who, the hotel pool is hopping, Grandma's yard is buzzing...and I am guessing people all around town can hear us laughing.  Happy Birthday Grandma...we love YOU!

  1. Big tears in my eyes over all the pictures. You look beautiful, Susan, as always. The kid lined up oldest to youngest really brought tears to my eyes. Very special memories.
