Spring Break 2011

We headed South for Spring Break this year.  South to St Louis, Missouri.  For as much time as Scott spends in St Louis we had never been there as a family.  Monsanto is based in St Louis.  Tommy is the one who thought of it, a few months ago he and I were out and I was asking him what he really wanted to see, as much as I can't believe it, in 5.5 years he will be off to college.  He thought of St Louis right away, I came home and talked to Scott about it and he thought it was a great idea.  So St Louis it was...

Day 1

..we drove to St Louis, without a stop.  We got there in time for "Kick Back" at our hotel where they serve free appetizers and free pop.  The boys' were MORE excited about this than you can maybe even imagine.  We spent the night settling into our hotel and "kicking back".  :)

Day 2

 The arch

Love this one of my boys walking to the arch

O-H-I-O

Lunch at Blueberry Hill, one of Scott's favorite burger spots when he was single and living in St Louis

Day 3

While Scott was in meetings, the boys and I headed to the Science Center
 "Grossology" exhibit

Jack programmed a Lego Robot in "Lego Mindstorms" with a partner

Daddy met us after his meetings and helped us build the arch

The hamster wheel at the Science Center

Dinner on the "Hill" with Scott's boss and his wife

Day 4

We ventured to the City Museum in the morning, a very different place.  It was filled with welded things, recycled things and just random odds and ends.

Lots of crawling around and tunnels.  This one made me particularly claustrophobic.

 huge slides everywhere

12 story slide in the dark cave...

Daddy and Tommy were the only ones who ventured down that slide.

...then off to the Magic House
Max found a ball pit and was THRILLED.

Jack pretended to be a waiter in the Pizza Place, it was so fun,

Jack and Drew were mechanics for awhile too

Jack and I tried the static machine to see what our hair would do.

Scott and Max practiced their presidential speeches

..and so it was time to leave St Louis.

..the boys were wanting to stay in St Louis another day or two, Drew wanted more time at the pool, Jack wanted more time at the hotel...and Tommy wanted more meals out.  But it was time to leave....because, unknown to them we had another surprise coming.

Spring break 2011 Part 2 coming soon.

  2. Loved your photos.Reminded me of our family trip to St. Louis. My kids especially enjoyed the slightly alarming City Museum.Your post brought to mind that any place with family altogether and no schedule is a great place to be.
