Father/Son Buckeye weekend for Tommy

Golfing on Friday

Tommy and Scott headed to Ohio this past weekend for Tommy's "Dad and Me" Buckeye weekend. Tommy was home sick on Tuesday, and frankly didn't feel well all week. But NOTHING was going to stop him from making the trip. N-O-T-H-I-N-G So off they went to Ohio...

On Friday afternoon when they got to Columbus they played 9 holes of golf on the Ohio State University Scarlet golf course. It was a beautiful day and they had a fun round. After they played...they just "happened" to be there at the time the team came for dinner. Evidently they eat at the golf club on Friday nights of game weekends. (some Dad just MAY have known that) You aren't allowed to talk with the players or get autographs or pictures. But they did get to see them all up close, Tommy said Pryor is REALLY BIG. As they were then walking out to the car they were about to cross paths with Coach Jim Tressel. And guess what? Coach Tressel said to Tommy as he was walking by "I sure hope you beat your Dad"...Tommy beamed and they started a conversation. Scott was able to snap this picture too.

They talked about golf, Coach gave Tommy golf advice even though he isn't a golfer, Scott thanked him for the example he sets in his faith and in his coaching. It was a highlight for both of them.

Friday night they went to dinner at Dave and Buster's which is a glorified Chuck E. Cheese I guess, Jane Townsley joined them too. (Mike was visiting John at college..FYI Mike was Scott's Best Buddy at Ohio State) The guys stayed at the Townsleys house and hung out with Stuart some too, Stuart is now in 9th grade. Jackie was in and out with friends, Jackie is a senior in HS this year. (another FYI Jackie and John were in our wedding, as was Mike...and Stuart was there in his Momma's tummy)

Gameday cool

Saturday they were up early and off to the game. It was a beautiful day and they had a great time. After the game they stopped at a couple of Buckeye stores and headed back to the Townsleys to pack it up and start heading home. A quick 24 hours, in Columbus. They spent the night in IL and headed the rest of the way Sunday. Home in time for Jack's football game.

They had a great time, bonding and just being together. Priceless weekends.

  1. Oh my word. I am so excited for them getting to talk to Coach. :) Wow. I'm a little star struck. :) Ben was excited too. Also, Ben says "Tommy has a good golf swing in that picture!" Boys.
