Last night our good friend, and the Jr Golf Pro at Des Moines Golf...Matt Orth, died suddenly. He was closest to Tommy and Drew, Scott had previously been on the board for Jr Golf with him as well.
Saturday the boys played golf and spent time with him after. He snuck Drew down to his office to give him a special Calloway hat from his personal collection..he was sponsored by Calloway. He told Drew he had some leftie clubs in his garage he would give to him as well.

He was playing hockey last night, and collapsed. We don't know for sure what happened yet...
but we do know he seems too young to be gone. We are praying for his family, his bride of less than a year and all those that loved him.
He will be missed by many.
I'm glad you put a picture of Matt on here because I got the email today and wasn't sure if I knew who he was or not. He looks very familiar and I'm know I've talked to him several times in the pro shop. This is so sad - you are sure right, none of us never know...
ReplyDeleteI will pray for Drew. Such a tender spirit to lose someone else in his life. I am praying for you and Scott, too.
ReplyDeleteSusan, I know about him and this story. My close friend Hannah is married to Eric and he works at DM Golf-- he is a golf pro as well. Maybe you know him? Anyway, Matt and Eric were good friends and this has been really really hard for them. They are also friends with his wife Rachel. They were at the hospital with her when she found out he had passed away, no family was there with her or anything. You may know more details by now, and I don't know a ton, but I can tell you what Hannah has told me if you want to know.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to think that things like this can happen so suddenly to someone so young. Jared will be 28 next month and I feel like we have our whole lives ahead of us. By the grace of God, we are still alive.
