High School Dances

I ordered a small poster of this for Tommy's grad party...it is a collage of all of his high school dances.  Sophomore on left, Junior in center and Senior on right.  He has made some really great memories with these sweet friends of his.

Prom and Other Weekend Happenings

Prom posts and pics are coming soon...I need to finish gathering all of my pics into one place.

In the meantime I spent 4 hours in the ER with Drew on Saturday afternoon...and here is the summary of that from this morning after meeting with the Orthopedic Doctor.

"You didn't really think you would make it through motherhood without someone breaking a bone did you Mom?"- Drew Shisler It is official...our first cast. I guess growth plates matter. Broken bone/growth plate inside of the elbow pitching in a baseball scrimmage on Saturday. Golf probably contributed to it as well. A weak spot on teenage arms... Drew described it as a "pop" and he was right. The good news is no surgery needed and they make Buckeye red casts.

Oh and this is happening right now, our house is NOT quiet.
A new roof, no more leaky roof at this house.

Busy Week

Well it has been a busy non-stop week here at our house.  Bathroom remodel is wrapping up, we hope...the plumbers are here today so we should have 2 more working toilets by the end of the day!  Sharing a bathroom with all 6 of us has been....well a reminder of how blessed we are..

Lots of grad party prep, spring cleaning, planting, pulling weeds etc have been going on as well.

Max has started tee ball practices with Scott and Jack coaching his team.

Golf is nearly every day for the big 2.

Prom is tomorrow so we picked up Tuxes last night and will get flowers and all the rest tomorrow.  Drew is on the committee so he has a lot of decorating etc to do in the next 24 hours.  It will be a fun but busy couple of days around here.

Some of the fun stuff that has been on the school's social media site from this week...

They ended up not having the record...this was when the Coach "thought" they had it but they ended up missing it by 2.  But still a great round for the team.

This morning Jack is headed to the Junior High Knowledge Bowl.   It is cool to be smart.  Fun for him since his best friend "Big Max" is on his team AND they get to eat at the food court as it is being held at one of the local malls.  Those are the things HE cares about. :)

Lost

I have seen this before but every single time I see it...it makes me giggle.  It is the truth around this house.

#onsteroids

The saga continues...

Last night at dinner much of our conversation was about how very strong Max is on his steroids.  Before we prayed he said

"Hashtag on steroids."

This kid is far older than your typical 6 year old.

This morning he is feeling much better and back at school.  I sent a note to his teacher letting her know he will be coming back and is stronger than ever...

here was her note back to me...

"Yep, first thing he told me that he is on steroids that make him strong!  :)"

Oh bless her heart for loving him today.

"Roids"

So the little guy, aka Max, is home today with croup and a double ear infection.  We went to the Dr this morning for some meds and the typical 2 days of steroids to reduce the inflammation that causes that awful, middle of the night, barking cough.

Max just went downstairs to check in on Daddy who is working in his office, this email just came to me from Scott.

Max:  “Dad you know that heavy exercise ball that you have?”

Daddy: Yes

Max:  “This morning I couldn’t lift it but now that I’m on steroids I can lift it up to here (chest high)”

Daddy:  Okay   Be careful buddy!

Apparently Max has watched one too many ESPN Steroid stories.  :)

Too funny...

Encouragement and Giggles

There are a lot of things that pop up on social media that challenge me and there are some that just make me smile...here are some of my latest favorites.

Luther Reunion

The day after we got home from Ohio was the annual Luther reunion.  We have done this for so many years now we have lost track...;BUT what a blessing it is every single year.  Niki, Lisa and I were besties in college.  All of us were elementary ed/special ed majors...  We have stood up for each other in weddings, and been there through pregnancies...we are very similar as Moms now too.  Our kiddos all enjoy one another.  This is the last year of this reunion as we know it...we have 2 going off to college in the fall, Tommy and Caleb...so times will change.

So much fun to have all 11 of them together for one night on Jansen's farm.

God has truly blessed us in our friendship, marriages and now with these beautiful children.  We are so grateful for it ALL.

We asked the senior boys to pose together and Caleb...opted for the "Dab".  :)

Easter in Ohio

We were in Ohio for Easter this year.  Some drove from Iowa to Ohio and some of us flew directly from Florida to Ohio...regardless we all arrived on Thursday night in Ohio.

Scott's brother Doug came in on Friday night, and his sister Kathy lives close by.  It was nice to all be together despite it being a short time.  As a parent, I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to have ALL of your children AND grandchildren in one place at one time.  I would think it would be one of the greatest feelings ever.   I hope Scott's parents felt that.

Here are some pictures from the weekend and time together.

Lerch's donuts were open for the weekend...we had to stop

Tommy was able to meet his roommate Nathan, in the khaki pants, and his other 2 quad mates for OU.

No big deal, just ran into the Ohio State QB at the mall Cardale Jones

Trying to get the kitty to come out for a treat

Loving the character of the barns on the farm

These 6 went to dinner at the Dalton Dariette...

These 4 played a round of golf.

These are the men who carry the Shisler name from Scott's Grandpa Ray's line of Shislers...these are the only ones who will carry his name on and they are his legacy.

When we are out and about I often say "if your last name is Shisler, we are leaving" well that doesn't work on the farm.  :)  It was nice to see Aunt Kathy and Uncle Doug.

Easter morning, sunrise service...early but worth it.

The whole gang after church on Easter.

And the joys of a 12 hour car ride home...
