We had a whirlwind few days last week....boys had tennis clinics and Jr golf started last week. LOTS of ball games...Scott's parents came to visit from Ohio on Wednesday, and I had a bridal shower and we had a wedding reception on Saturday. Oh and Tommy and Drew were both in weekend tournaments for baseball, one in Indianola and one in Ankeny...opposite sides of town and both 30 minutes from home. It was a busier than we normally are kind of week....non stop.
It was fun having Grandma and Grandpa Shisler here from Ohio for a few days. Our tummies are still full from her yummy cookies and pies she made. Think she made 5 batches of cookies in her 5 days here. And there isn't a morsel left. They were able to see at least one game for each of the boys' baseball teams which was nice for the boys.
Saturday felt like a comedy of errors kind of day...rain delays and trying to juggle the boys all over town and still not miss the shower and reception all seems entertaining now, looking back on it.
The bridal shower was for our dear Miss Emily, who has babysat the boys since Jack was 1. She is part of the family and gets married to Ross in July. The boys are Jr Groomsmen in their wedding and we all cannot wait for their wedding day. So it was an honor to celebrate Emily and Ross for me at the shower.
The wedding reception was for "Swim with Kim's" daughter Brooke, who have mentioned in previous blogs. Brooke and Brandon were married a week ago in the Cayman Islands and the reception felt like they brought some Cayman back with them. It was so much fun and we met a fun couple who we had a lot in common with....oh I do need to tell you one of the cutest things of the reception. Brooke and her Dad, Coral, were dancing their father/daughter dance....sappy song. I was crying...shocking I am sure to most of you. And all of a sudden the music stopped, well the sappy music did, and dance music came on...a medley of dance tunes, Macarena, Can't Touch This...etc. And if any of you know Brooke..well she is a tad bit boisterous...so this was just a riot and so perfect for her and her bolder than most, Dad. They had choreographed their dance moves...oh it was so fun. And then the sappy song came again at the very end of their dance.
It was just a crazy busy weekend...but so much fun filled it. Drew's team, the Mariners, won the Championship in the Consolation bracket and Tommy's team, the Dbacks, made it to the Championship of his tournament and came in 2nd place.
Tonight we have the Championship game for Drew's Little League team, the Twins. They have had an undefeated season. An exciting night ahead...will post pics later.
