Flag Football

Jack had a game today...he is playing for Upward Sports again this year and LOVES it.  It was a beautiful CRISP, fall morning today.  I even wore my Uggs.  So wonderful to be cold.  I was SO tired of heat.  Windows even open here today....

Jack played Quarterback most of the game and had some really nice throws.  Here are some pictures from the action...

Max was busy too, mainly taking his hat off and on throughout the game and eating snack after snack.

Tacky Twin Day

Today was "Tacky Twin Day" for DMCS Homecoming week.  Drew and his best buddy Tyler went shopping on Sunday for their "outfits".

Sometimes Drew can really surprise me...

This is what they came up with to wear today for school....

Oh and Drew just walked in the door to inform me...THEY WON!  Out of grades 7-12 they won the best outfit for Tacky Twin Day!  So fun!

Love my Dad

Home from a wonderful weekend in Ohio with my Love...more on that later after I get pictures uploaded....we had so much fun being together.

just got home from taking the boys to school and have to say I have the BEST DAD!  He had my Suburban detailed and filled it with gas while I was away.  It hasn't been this clean in SO long!

I LOVE that he still does stuff like this for me, makes me feel like a little girl.  Makes me feel 16 again....

I love HIM, thanks Dad for letting me still be Daddy's little girl.

You never know...

Last night our good friend, and the Jr Golf Pro at Des Moines Golf...Matt Orth, died suddenly.  He was closest to Tommy and Drew, Scott had previously been on the board for Jr Golf with him as well.

Saturday the boys played golf and spent time with him after.  He snuck Drew down to his office to give him a special Calloway hat from his personal collection..he was sponsored by Calloway.  He told Drew he had some leftie clubs in his garage he would give to him as well.

He was playing hockey last night, and collapsed.  We don't know for sure what happened yet...

but we do know he seems too young to be gone.  We are praying for his family, his bride of less than a year and all those that loved him.

He will be missed by many.

Flag Football Season begins...

Jack is playing flag football again this year through Upward Sports...he has been very excited for the season to begin.  He missed the first game due to his trip to Ohio last weekend and he opted out of the Wayne County Fair this weekend so he could be at his game.  He didn't want to miss it as he was playing on his buddies teams.

I, being the wonderful Mother that I am, forgot my camera for the game.  And it was such a pretty day. Oh well my good friend Makila had hers and snapped these for me...

Jack had laid out this eye black for Drew on the island for him to wear to the game...cute.  Cheifs (spelled as that) and his number #81.  What a great big brother to wear it to the game.

And here is Jack being introduced...
this may be the boys' favorite part of the entire football games, they announce your names on the speaker LOUDLY and it's one of the best parts of their day.

I think I may have left out a pic or 2 that Makila sent of me in the halftime show.  I was somehow volunteered to be in the Punt and Throw contest.  3 women, 3 men...the pics are lovely of it.  I have been since told by some boys that my throw may need some practice but that my punt was lovely.  And in case you are wondering, I did win the women's division and won a bag of Skittles from the concession stand.  :)

Jack had a great game and had fun, who knows if they won or lost but they had fun and he came off smiling.  The Buckeye won their game, so at our house that makes for a very good day.

Today was church, Sunday School, homework, yard work and naps for some of us.

Ready to hit the week tomorrow.  Scott and I are sneaking off to Ohio for a long weekend.  He has his 35th High School Reunion on Friday night.  I have never gone to one with him.  His 20th Reunion  I was pregnant with Tommy, then on his 25th reunion I stayed home and was pregnant with Jack, and his 30th....who knows I was probably home with busy children.  I think they wonder if I really exist, or they think I am ALWAYS pregnant?    He went to a small High School in a small town, so not expecting a lot of people there.  But it will be fun to be together.  We will get to the tail end of the Wayne County Fair on Thursday, to his reunion on Friday and onto Columbus for the Buckeye game on Saturday.  So it won't be real quiet or relaxing but it will be time together.  And frankly, I love him so much I don't really care where we are, just so we are together.

Happy 91st Birthday Grandma!

Saturday, was my Grandma Lu's 91st birthday...a BIG deal!

My parents were there to celebrate with her as were my Aunt and Uncle.

She is an amazing lady, a wonderful example, glue that has kept their family so strong for SO many years.  She lives on her own, gardens, eats well and enjoys a Double Stuff Oreo daily.  She has a steadfast faith in God that shows in everything she does.

Love you Grandma!  Glad your birthday was so wonderful.  Fun to hear the boys sing to you!

XOXO

First Football Game

Today was Drew's first football game of the year...

he had to wear his jersey to school today.

He looked so grown up.

He was SO excited for his first game...
he is in LOVE with football.  It has been officially announced to me that it IS his favorite sport.

Here are some snapshots from the game.  He played many positions, had some tackles, almost had a QB sack, had a great catch too....he was in for a few plays of the 8th grade game as well.

Welcome to DMCS 7th Grade Football.

They final score of the game 0-0.  :)

oh and yes we have a haircut scheduled for Saturday, I think he needs it.  :)
Thank you to our friends, the Lors, the Colemans and the Van Soelens for covering all of the other boys tonight to where they needed to be so I could be at the game without distraction, other than maybe some chatting with other Mom's.

What did you do this past weekend?

I spent this past weekend cleaning and organizing our entire house.  I LITERALLY spent 51 hours cleaning, sorting, purging and organizing.  I actually kept track.  CRAZY isn't that?  Crazy that there was THAT much to be done and CRAZY that I didn't hit a wall sooner than I did.  :)  I made tripS to Goodwill, filled up 4 trash cans, made 2 trips to Target for organizing stuff...and I did sneak out one night for dinner with a girlfriend, I snuck out for a pedicure and a manicure as well.  And I did 2 photo shoots this weekend as well.

First off, Scott gets the "WHAT A GUY AWARD" for offering, on his own will, to take ALL of the boys to Ohio for the weekend.  He KNEW I was longing for the gift of T-I-M-E and being the loving husband that he is, he granted me that wish.

Our house may have NEVER been this clean or organized....not kidding.  The boys have been so happy to come home to being able to find everthing.  Here are some random comments I have heard

Drew " Mom our basement feels SO big now"

Jack "Mom you really DID work all weekend, I kind of thought you were kidding"

Tommy "Mom, the pantry has never been so clean, you can see everything and find every thing."

Drew "Mom, thanks for not messing with my room"..ahem he is much like his Dad, doesn't want HIS stuff messed with so I honored that and he said he would clean his closet WITH me this weekend.

...and Scott, is very grateful to have come home to a happier wife...that matters WAY more to him than an organized house.  While he does appreciate the cleaning too.  Oh and he came home to a Boston Cream Pie too.  :)  Love him.

And now to the fun part...the boys went to the first Buckeye game of the season.  We were blessed to have found enough tickets for all of them to go, we have 2 season tickets of our own but we were able to get 4 more, not so easy to do for the Buckeyes.  They went to Columbus and then after the game headed to the farm 2 hours away to see Grandma and Grandpa Shisler....spent 2 nights there and came home on Monday.

Here are some pictures from their weekend...I wish they would have taken the GOOD camera vs the little instant ones....the quality is not great but you can see the happiness..  I really DO love that they ALL, yes Max too, are crazy Buckeye fans.  I LOVE that they get so into it, I love that they want to tailgate, to see Brutus, to watch the game...it's SO sweet.  And I am so very grateful that I love the colors of the Buckeyes...red, my favorite, gray one of my favorites...and black.  Can't get any better than that.

Here are some pics I just pulled off of the camera....

Max LOVES Brutus, at least he loves him from a distance.  :)  Not so excited about him being so close.  But has talked about seeing him ever since.

 Heading into the stadium

I am not sure you can fully grasp the joy this brings to my Love, he TRULY loves his team, and he ADORES his boys, and the fact that they LOVE going to the games and going to campus almost as much as he does, is really like a dream he never thought would happen.  It's sweet, he cries just thinking about it.

THIS is Max's kind of Brutus, once that doesn't MOVE.

After church on Sunday morning, I think Tommy has almost passed Grandpa Shisler up.
